A journey into tranquility
Day 2 of the Innsbruck Trek started with a calm morning at the Hotel & Landhaus Bergland in Obsteig, where we had a light breakfast before setting off for our next destination—the Lehnberghaus. Along the way, we would also visit the viewing point at Lacke, offering stunning views over the entire Mieming Plateau. It was shaping up to be another day filled with natural beauty, and we were eager to dive into it.
The moss forest and the path less traveled
After just a few minutes of walking through the urban area, we found ourselves on the edge of a breathtaking moss forest. The air was cool and fresh, filled with the earthy scent of damp soil and the soft crunch of moss beneath our boots. Following a dirt road alongside the stream (Sturlbach), we slowly left behind the noise of the world, immersing ourselves in the quiet beauty of the forest. The sense of peace here was palpable, as if time itself had slowed down.
Our first goal of the day was the Arzkasten restaurant, a welcome break where we quickly stopped for some water. But there was no time to linger. With a goal in sight, we took a few sips and pressed on.
Endurance through steeper trails
As we continued, the path became narrower and steeper, transitioning into more of a challenge. The heat of the summer sun added an extra layer of difficulty, and we were reminded of the importance of pacing ourselves. Endurance was the name of the game now, and the trail pushed us to stay focused. We made three quick stops for water—something I’d highly recommend, especially in the Alps during summer. The sun can be relentless, and keeping hydrated is key to staying strong.
But despite the heat, the landscape around us kept us going. The air smelled of fresh pine and earth, and each step brought us closer to our destination. The natural beauty of the area was so captivating that the physical strain seemed to fade into the background.
Lehnberghaus and the view from Lacke
Eventually, we reached Lehnberghaus, where we were greeted by the cool breeze and a well-earned cold Radler. We took a moment to rest, but the climb wasn’t over yet. The steepness remained, and the last leg of the hike awaited us—a steady climb to the panoramic platform at Lacke.
But the view from the top was worth every step. Standing on the platform, we were treated to an expansive vista of the Mieming Plateau, with the mountains stretching endlessly in every direction. The sense of accomplishment was overwhelming as we took in the views, chatting away and soaking up the beauty of it all.
After a while, we descended back to Lehnberghaus for another Radler, savoring the moment before deciding it was time to call it a day. We made our way back to our accommodation, grateful for the experiences of the day, ready to relax and prepare for tomorrow’s adventure.
